Sun Health Foundation’s Generous Support Helps Bring New Care Options to the Community

Sun City, AZ – January 10, 2025 – Banner Boswell Medical Center marked a significant milestone with the ribbon-cutting ceremony for the expanded Endoscopy and Interventional Radiology area. This newly renovated 15,000 square feet of space will provide enhanced care for patients and improved efficiency for medical staff, thanks to the generous contributions from the community to the Sun Health Foundation.

The expansion will open at the end of January and centralize a range of vital services, streamlining patient care by consolidating procedures, imaging, and recovery into one location. Previously, patients would need to visit multiple areas within the hospital, but with the new facility, these services will be housed in a modern, seamless environment that enhances patient comfort and reduces wait times.

“We are thrilled to celebrate this achievement with our community, and I want to express our deep appreciation for our ongoing partnership with Sun Health,” said Stan Holm, CEO of Banner Boswell and Del E Webb Medical Centers. “This expansion reflects our commitment to making healthcare easier, so life can be better for our patients and their families. The support from Sun Health has been instrumental in bringing this vision to life.”

Erica Dorward, COO for Banner Boswell and Banner Del E. Webb Medical Centers, highlighted the importance of the project, saying, “We couldn’t have done this without Sun Health’s support. Their generosity has helped ensure that we continue to provide world-class care right here in our community.”

The new space will also house advanced technologies for both endoscopy and interventional radiology, offering real-time imaging capabilities that improve precision during procedures. Dr. Archan Shah, an interventional pulmonologist at Banner MD Anderson Cancer Center, emphasized how the new layout will improve efficiency and convenience for both patients and staff. “Now all endoscopic procedures will take place in this state-of-the-art unit … from registration, imaging, procedure to recovery. This will make a huge difference for our patients and their families, in addition to improving efficiency.” he said

Dr. Gordon Haugland, an interventional radiologist at Banner Boswell, echoed Dr. Shah’s sentiments, noting that the new technology and expanded space will dramatically improve patient care. “This facility allows us to use state-of-the-art imaging and diagnostic tools in one integrated space, making our procedures more precise and efficient.”

Sharon Orlopp, Chair of the Sun Health Foundation Board of Trustees, expressed her gratitude for the donors who made this expansion possible. “This project would not have been possible without the incredible support of our community and our donors. We greatly appreciate your support and endorsement of this to provide a great space for the staff here.”

Nora Hannah, Chief Engagement Officer of Sun Health, shared, “What I have really learned is from all of you, the generosity of this community coming together to support not only our current needs with the needs of the future. And that is what building community is of all about. It’s very much what touches me and what is so important about the work we do at Sun Health.”

The Ribbon Cutting event also honored key donors, including Jim and Gracie Greenwald, who contributed significantly to the project. “We feel incredibly fortunate to support this important initiative,” said Jim Greenwald. “Healthcare has deeply impacted our family, and we’re honored to help make a difference for others.”

With this expansion, Banner Boswell Medical Center continues to advance its mission of providing comprehensive, patient-centered care to the community, ensuring that those in need have access to the latest technologies and world-class healthcare services.
