Over twenty years ago, the first residents moved into La Loma Village, a Sun Health the community into a place where people felt truly at home.

A Close‑Knit Community From Day One

As the original residents shared meals and spent time together, genuine friendships emerged—creating a warm, family-like atmosphere that still defines La Loma Village today.
“We all knew each other; it was like a family,” pioneer Lorraine recalled. “Everybody helped everybody else. We all ate together. It was just family. It was just home, with a lot of people around all in the same boat.”

Building a Life Plan Community From the Ground Up

Much of what makes La Loma Village special was shaped directly by its residents. From interest-based clubs to community traditions, the pioneers created activities that brought people together—cards, theater, line dancing, and even programs to support team members.

Welcoming New Residents and New Perspectives

As La Loma Village has expanded over the years, new residents continue to join the community—adding fresh ideas and new friendships while enriching the culture the pioneers established.
“You get to meet new people with new ideas,” said pioneer Sue L. “From my point of view, they are always younger. You get to interact with lots of other people and make friendships.”

Community, Connection, and Care

For nineteen years, the pioneers have been the heart of La Loma Village. Their spirit of friendship, collaboration, and support helped shape the welcoming environment that Sun Health Communities is known for today.
“La Loma is a very special place,” said Sue S. “It’s a family—really. From the first moment people walk through the door, they are made to feel at home. People are naturally friendly.”
